CONDITIONALS
Today is Friday, July 25th, 2025
a. Future Simple
Structure: will + base verb
Example: She will travel to Paris next week.
Uses:
Predictions: It will rain tomorrow.
Decisions made at the moment: I’ll answer the phone.
Promises: I’ll help you with your homework.
b. Be Going To – am/is/are + going to + base verb
Use: plans, intentions, predictions based on evidence.
c. Present Simple
Structure: Subject + base verb (add “-s” for he/she/it)
Example: The train leaves at 8 p.m.
Uses:
Habits and routines: He plays football every weekend.
General truths/facts: Water boils at 100°C.
Scheduled events (especially for transportation or timetables): The flight departs at noon.
d. Present Continuous
Structure: am/is/are + present participle (verb+ing)
Example: She is meeting her friends later.
Uses:
Actions happening now: I am writing an email.
Future plans/arrangements: We are visiting Rome next week.
e. Future Continuous
This was already listed as item b, so to clarify again:
Structure: will be + verb-ing
Example: He will be working late tonight.
Uses:
To describe what will be happening at a certain time in the future.
f. Future Perfect
Structure: will have + past participle
Example: By 2026, she will have graduated from university.
Uses:
To show that something will be completed before a certain point in the future:
By next month, we’ll have finished the project.
