Describing Your Past Experiences

Think about a memorable experience from your last vacation or a special trip you took. Write a short paragraph describing what happened.

  • Use Past Simple to talk about completed actions in the past. Use Past Continuous to describe actions that were happening at a specific moment or to show an interruption in the past.

  • Also include:

Used to to describe habits or situations that were true in the past but are not true now.

Be used to to describe things you were already accustomed to.

Get used to to explain how you adapted to a new situation.


Example starters:

Last year, I went to…

While I was visiting…, I was… when…

I used to… during my vacations.

At first, I wasn’t used to…, but later I got used to…

Specific details: 

🔹 Use at least 6 verbs in Past Simple and 6 in Past Continuous.
🔹 Try to include time expressions like: while, when, at that moment, suddenly, etc.
🔹 Include at least 2 examples in be used to and 2 examples in get used to


Model of a paragraph:

Last vacation, I traveled to a small town near the mountains with my family. We stayed in a cozy cabin and explored many beautiful places. One afternoon, I was walking near the river when it suddenly started to rain. When I was younger, I used to spend my vacations at home, so traveling felt very exciting. At first, I wasn’t used to the cold weather in the mountains, but after a few days I got used to it. While we were hiking in the forest, we saw many birds and amazing landscapes. By the end of the trip, I was used to waking up early and enjoying the quiet mornings in nature. It was a wonderful experience that I will always remember.

• Al ingreso, dirigirse a la página principal y allí dar clic al examen que haya
sido asignado (KET, PET, IELTS, PLACEMENT TEST, ETC.)

• Es importante contestar la prueba en orden ya que si se inicia la prueba desde
una sección que no sea la inicial, puede ocasionar bloqueo y no podrá acceder
luego a la información previa.

• Recomendación para la presentación de la prueba, el uso de audífonos para la
sección de escucha.

• Es también importante inhabilitar la opción de traducción en el navegador
seleccionado para que; todos los comandos de la prueba se ejecuten como
corresponde. Si se presenta traducción de esta, la página se bloqueará y no
podrá continuar con la prueba.

• Al finalizar toda la prueba, es importante dar clic en la opción “finish attempt” y
luego dar clic a la opción de “submit all and finish” para que este quede
registrado en la plataforma. Candidato que no haya seguido este paso, no se
contemplará en el reporte general.

• Para finalizar el proceso de aplicación, se debe asegurar que la prueba termine
en pantalla con la siguiente información:
